Wren’s Syndrome

First discovered by Roger J Gould in 2007, and named after architect Sir Christopher Wren who famously said, “If you seek my reputation look about you!”.

Architects suffering from this self-destructive, exhibitionist, syndrome believe the way to win clients with modest (but good-paying) projects, is to bedazzle them with the £10m project for which the architect won an award, or some other high ticket contracts. Sufferers often lose reality and frequently complain of booming noises in their ears.  These are, in fact, caused by the supersonic departure of potential clients to jobbing builders and less qualified artisans.

Treatment is inexpensive and involves a small number of consultations leading to revised webcopy and rewritten promotional literature followed by increased effectiveness.
